Running Mighty often felt like I was making shit up as I went along, stumbling around every turn and questioning numerous decisions. And I absolutely was. I’d never run a business before. It was humbling, exhilarating, with epic highs and equally epic lows. But looking back, despite the mistakes, there isn’t much I’d change. It shaped me into the leader I am today.
As a designer, it's second-nature to jump to solutions when presented with a problem. But balancing that with asking clarifying questions leads to better results
This seems so obvious now, but it was truly eye opening for me then. This shift not only yielded better results but it fostered independence.
At the time, it felt natural to me to show how something could be done. However, I realized this led to my team replicating my ideas rather than developing their own. That's not good for anyone.
From messy decisions and multiple pivots, each step was a journey of self discovery that has profoundly impacted the designer I am today.
